May God's blessings be on you, in everything you do

In your going out and coming in, may His presence be with you

For you have shown me the way, and taught me by God's wisdom,

So Dad, today, I will return, the love you've freely given.

Year 5&6 SDA Basketball Gala Day

On Thursday 17th of August our Year 5 & 6 students participated in the annual SDA Schools Basketball Gala Day at Mountain View Adventist College. Our Wahroonga boys and girls teams entered the day with plenty of energy, enthusiasm and anticipation.

The boys played well as a team and battled with 5 players, dealing with some injuries which made for a challenging day. Some of our brave girls filled in for the boys when they were down on numbers, the girls more than held their own coming away with a great win against the eventual runner up team from Mountain View Adventist College. The boys made it through to the semi-finals where they lost a tough game against a strong team from Hills Adventist College, who went on to win the grand final.

Our girls were an excellent team unit with a number of experienced players and some keen newcomers to the sport. The girls won their round games in convincing fashion with only one close call. The semi-final and grand final were both excellent games with the girls continuing their dominance, coming away as the undefeated champions for the day.

All of our students demonstrated a great spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork, which was the biggest win for the day!

Year 5&6 Milo Cricket Gala Day

On Thursday the 17th of August, Wahroonga Adventist School took a group of 10 boys and 6 girls from Years 5/6 to Montview Oval for the Hornsby T20 Blast Gala Day. We had one boys team and one girls team that played a total of four games each for the day against other schools in our area. The girls team only had 6 players, but participated with enthusiasm and teamwork, and were able to walk away as overall winners for the day! They will now move on to regionals in the upcoming months. The boys played well over the day demonstrating great sportsmanship and teamwork, and walked away with 2nd place overall. Everyone played fantastically and demonstrated great character.

CSSA Secondary State Athletics Carnival

On Thursday the 24th of August, 10 students from Years 7 and 8 represented our School at the CSSA Secondary State Athletics Carnival held at Sydney Olympic Park. This is a highly competitive carnival with students representing over 70 Christian schools in NSW. It was a great day with high levels of athleticism and sportsmanship displayed throughout the whole day. It was great to see our students achieve personal best times and distances in their events. Well done!

Year 6 Fundraiser: Colour Run!!

On Friday 15th September, Year 6 will be hosting a Colour Fun Run to raise money for their gift to the school – a media resource centre in our library.

A note has been sent home to all students from Prep to Year 8 with information about the event and seeking signed permission for each student to attend.

The cost is $10 and every child who returns their signed permission note and entry fee will be entitled to take part in the fun run, receive an ice-block at the conclusion of their race and their name entered into the lucky prize draw with their chance to win a free pass to Luna Park Sydney. Please ensure your notes and money are returned to their teacher by this Friday, 1st September.

We have been fortunate enough to have received generous voucher donations from various businesses and these will be used as part of our $5 lucky dip, where every prize received is worth more than $40. There will be a Coloured Hairspray stall where the students can get their hair coloured by one of their school captains for $2, and Year 8 Commerce students will be selling an array of yummy food and drinks at their market stall.

A great afternoon of music, activities and excitement has been organised and we encourage all parents and carers to come and join the fun. All information pertaining to the day will be shared on our closed Facebook page Wahroonga Adventist 2017 Colour Fun Run so sign up now.

Of course our mini carnival afternoon can’t go ahead without the help and support of parent volunteers. If you are available on the day and keen to join the fun, I am desperately looking for some volunteers to assist with the powder throwing and some parent volunteers to assist with getting our younger students changed so as they aren’t going home covered in colour powder. (Older students will manage to get themselves changed).

Please click on the volunteer sign up link to show your support.

On behalf of the Year 6 students and teachers we look forward to all students of the school participating in our exhilarating Colour Fun Run event. Any questions or further information required, can be directed to
