The Hypothalamus links the nervous system and the endocrine system. It secretes hormones that act on the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland (master gland) responds by either secreting other hormones or producing less of the hormones. The Hypothalamus controls important aspects such as body temperature, rate of metabolism and water content.
Homeostasis is the process of containing a constant internal environment. It controls the body temperature, the proper balance of chemicals and other substances in the body, the glucose levels, water and growth.
