The Third Sunday of Lent Haley Sliper

John 4:5-42

The Third Sunday in Lent is a story of how we come to know Jesus, even when we find a lot of reasons not to believe in him. When we read this gospel it can either be eye opening to all of our sins and what we have done wrong or it can be eye opening to be a better follower of Jesus. The theme of this Sunday is to be open to Christ. He holds eternal life, so follow him to know the goodness of the Lord.

"We no longer believe because of your word; for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the savior of the world." John 4: 40-42

My Reflection: We need to let Jesus in. During this time, Jesus needs witnesses. We need to be there for him like the Good Samaritan Woman was for him. At this time, God is calling on us to live out his vocation and be someone else's save in life. We are always distracted with other things going on in life that we forget to stop and think about what we are called here to do. This is just a reminder that everything that happens in life doesn't portray the rest of time. If we keep Jesus in mind, he will give us the true everlasting life.
