COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

PLANNING COMMISSION TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING ON THE ZONING CODE

On Tuesday, June 25, the Planning Commission will hold its final study session on the draft zoning code. This meeting is the culmination of 18 months of work and nine community meetings. The Zoning Code lays out the requirements, in detail, to guide new construction, new businesses, and new signs. Come and learn what is recommended and give input on the future of the City. The Commission meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers (5938 Kauffman Avenue).

To review the staff report, feedback received, draft zoning map, and draft zoning code, please review the Planning Commission agenda for June 25. The agenda will be posted by 5 p.m. on Friday. For more questions, e-mail planning@templecity.us, or call Scott Reimers, Planning Manager at (626) 656-7316.

NEW SIDEWALK VENDING REGULATIONS

On January 1, 2019, California’s new law regarding sidewalk vending went into effect. It prohibits local jurisdictions, like Temple City, from banning sidewalk vending. It instead encourages cities to develop programs to regulate sidewalk vending businesses while recognizing them as an important part of the local economy. In accordance with this new law, the City Council recently approved new regulations for sidewalk vendors. All vendors must obtain a business license before operating. For more information about starting a sidewalk vending business in Temple City, please contact Sandra Scott in the planning office at 626-656-7316.
