Select ONE question to respond to (as a group-you all answer the same question). Take 5 minutes to think and write by yourself, then share with your group (captains lead the discussion).

1. How are you CONNECTING to the characters, setting, or events? How are your connections helping you understand the story?

2. Who is the MAIN CHARACTER? Describe his/her personality using precise words.

3. What is the SETTING of the story? Tell when and where it is happening. How is the setting influencing the story?

Reflect on yesterday's meeting: was your group on-task? Were you respectful?

Today: continue reading. If you need your group to stop reading to discuss a new word or a confusing part of the story, put your thumb up. Captains, watch for thumbs up and stop group reading to discuss.
