Your experience of Cycle to Work Paul Knight

The University's Cycle to Work provider, Cycle Solutions, will be setting up a virtual shop for the day outside Bramber House on Wednesday from 10.00am to 3.00pm - advising staff how the scheme works and talking them through a display of some of the most popular bikes and equipment available through Cycle to Work at Sussex.

We talked to the University's Catering and Retail Services Contract Manager, Paul Knight, about his experience of the scheme.

What made you join Cycle to Work?

The prospect of achieving a much healthier lifestyle, doing my bit for the environment plus of course the opportunity to get a decent bike for a reasonable price with easy monthly payments.

What bike and equipment did you obtain under the scheme?

I chose a hybrid Giant ‘Roam’ bike with an additional ‘bioflex’ soft saddle along with re-chargeable LED lights and a safety helmet.

How have you found it cycling to work?

To be honest, cycling to work was never going to work for me as this would probably entail me attempting to go up Ditchling Beacon! However, cycling home a few times every week, especially throughout the Summer months has been fantastic as my son often meets me on campus with his bike and we cycle home together through the Sussex countryside.

Have you any tips for anyone considering joining the scheme?

Yes, join today – it’s a no brainer.
