April 2021

[Generally available May 20] You can now save projects with change log notes and load previous versions of a Workspace project to undo unwanted changes (or to simply revert to a preferred prior version).

Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) Enhancements

Enhanced data views greatly expands your flexibility in creating metrics and dimensions from XDM schema fields. You can use a string field as a metric, use a numeric fields as a dimension, create multiple metrics from the same field with different attribution models and lookback windows, make metrics and dimensions compatible across data views, hide a component from reporting and include/exclude values, use bucketing, and much more.

Scheduled projects are now supported in CJA.

The Components > User preferences page lets you manage settings for Analysis Workspace and its related components at the user-level. For example, you can choose a default report suite and color palette. User preferences apply to all new projects and new panels.

Histogram smart bucket prediction helps with high-cardinality metrics by automatically identifying the bucket size for your data spread. This improvement can be observed most clearly with non-counter metrics, such as revenue.

Scorecard creators can create and apply custom date ranges to mobile scorecard projects. Creators can choose from familiar Workspace and mobile pre-defined ranges or create a custom date range. Learn more

The Data Repair API now supports standard variables including Page and IP address, mobile and video variables, as well as custom props and eVars. Values within variables can be deleted or new values can be set. The API now also offers filtering for URLs, query strings, @ signs, and more.

Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) now supports Adobe Analytics dashboards (mobile app). This allows executives and business users to see their cross-channel KPIs based on CJA data, using the same app they may already be using for Adobe Analytics. Learn more

The Usage Log API is an Analytics Reporting API that enables you to retrieve Usage & Access log data programmatically. This data can help you measure your organization's usage of Adobe Analytics. To learn more, visit our documentation here and test the API via Swagger here.

In addition, a tip for how to analyze this usage data in Analysis Workspace is available at adobe.ly/aausage.

January 2021

Component dropdowns allow you to pick from a list of compatible components to build your analysis. You can also create new components directly from the dropdown if you do not find what you need. These spaces continue to work as dropzones as well, should you have a more advanced use case.

When training new users in Workspace, highlight this new functionality to alleviate the learning curve of the component left rail. The dropdowns will also help users learn what components are compatible within each visualization.

Add images to Workspace projects by referencing a public image URL. Image URLs can be added within text boxes or panel/visualization descriptions, and both static and animated images are supported. With this feature, you can include your company logo at the top of a project. You can also help your end users relate to what is being analyzed by including a visual, e.g. a screenshot of a webpage, A/B variant experiences, campaign creative, etc.

The Analytics product team is also researching adding support for direct image uploads in a future release.

The data source manager (dot) and settings manager (gear) for visualizations have been combined into a single popover, so you can easily manage your source and settings from the same location.

The Analysis Workspace performance help page shows the network, browser and project factors that impact project performance and links to tips for optimization. It can be accessed under Help > Performance in the Workspace menu.

Moving average has been added to Line visualization trendline settings. Also known as a rolling average, a moving average uses a specific number of data points (determined by your 'Periods' selection), averages them, and uses the average as a point in the line. This creates a smooth trendline to view your data by. Examples include 7 day moving average or 4 week moving average.

Journey IQ: Cross-Device Analytics (CDA) can now utilize one of three different methods to identify how devices map to people:

  • The Adobe Experience Platform Co-op Graph
  • The Adobe Experience Platform Private Graph
  • Field-based stitching via a prop or eVar

Our new field-based stitching option simplifies implementation for CDA by removing the need to implement ECID or ID syncing for the purposes of cross-device stitching (ECID is still required for other Experience Cloud integrations). Instead, field-based stitching relies on the presence of a user identifier stored in a prop or eVar to determine which devices to stitch together.

While creating a connection, you can now backfill up to 13 months of data, irrespective of size. Previously, you could backfill a maximum of 2.5 billion rows.

Anomaly Detection is now available for CJA.

CJA field-based stitching enables you to re-key an event dataset in Adobe Experience Platform data lake from one ID namespace to another. Typically, this means re-keying the event dataset from a cookie-based ID to a person-based ID. This way, the re-keyed dataset may be combined with other person-based data in a CJA connection, thus enabling cross-device/cross-channel analysis in Analysis Workspace.

Global lookup support has been added. This enables out-of-the-dimensions such as Device, Browser, Operating System, etc. to be available.

New out-of-the-box dimensions and metrics have been added in support of Time spent, Session start, and Session end.

September 2020

The Download items as CSV option allows you download up to 50,000 items for a dimension in a freeform table, with segments and filters applied. While the UI will continue to show up to 400 items before pagination, this option allows you to access more rows of data outside of Analysis Workspace.

The Line visualization now offers new settings that make it easier for you to highlight key data points and trends, including show trendlines, show min/max labels, and show X/Y-axis.

  • Overlay different regression trendlines on any line visualization to more easily see the trend in the data. Options include Linear, Logarithmic, Exponential, Power and Quadratic. Moving average was also added in October 2020.

  • Overlay a minimum and maximum value label on any line visualization to quickly highlight the peaks and valleys in a metric.

  • Choose to show or hide the x-axis and y-axis of any line visualization. This can be especially helpful when your line visualizations are more compact.

You can bring all of the settings together, combined with others like "Legend visible", to create compact and insightful visualizations.

For Media Analytics customers, the Media Concurrent Viewers panel enables you to understand where peak concurrency occurred or where drop-offs happened to provide valuable insight into the quality of content and viewer engagement, and to help with troubleshooting or planning for volume/scale. Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) Enhancements

CJA no longers treat all users as admins. Only users who have been designated as product admins in the Adobe Admin Console will be able to do the following actions:

  • Create/update/delete Connections or Data Views
  • Update/delete projects, filters, or calc metrics that were created by other users
  • Share a Workspace project to all users

Cross-device Analytics (CDA) is now available in EMEA and APAC, including the option to use a private graph.

Field-based stitching is available for Cross-device Analytics in Americas and EMEA. This gives you the option to stitch based on a user ID stored in an Analytics field (prop or eVar) instead of using device graph (co-op or private.) The enhancement removes the requirement to implement ECID and removes the requirement to implement ID syncing for purposes of CDA.

July 2020

The Data Repair API (Public Beta) provides you with a mechanism to delete or edit existing Adobe Analytics data. Repair requests are made by submitting a job definition which includes the report suite, date range, variables and actions to be applied to the data. During the public beta, the API will support deletion of Activity Map data; additional features will be rolled out later this year. Contact Customer Care for access to this API Beta. Learn more

The default landing page for Adobe Analytics is now the Analysis Workspace project list, rather than Reports. This change will occur for anyone who has not previously set a custom landing page. For those individuals landing here for the first time, there will be a modal highlighting the Analysis Workspace training tutorial to help get you started.

Attribution IQ Enhancements

The Algorithmic Attribution IQ model uses statistical techniques to allocate credit across the dimension values in your report; it is not rules-based like other models offered to date. This new model is available everywhere attribution exists today - in freeform tables, calculated metrics and the Attribution panel. The Algorithmic model is available for the Analytics Ultimate package.

Custom lookback windows are now available for all models in Attribution IQ, in addition to Visitor and Visit lookback options that have been offered to date. This option lets you expand the attribution window beyond the reporting range (up to a maximum of 90 days), and applies to each conversion in the reporting range. Custom lookbacks will typically increase the attribution accuracy for events that happen early in the reporting period by accounting for interactions that occurred in the prior month(s). This contributes to seeing less events attributed to "None" in reporting as well.

For example, for a conversion occurring on May 20th, a lookback window of 10 days would evaluate all dimension touchpoints from May 10th to May 20th in the attribution model.

Data Democratization Enhancements

When sharing a Workspace project, you can now place recipients in one of three project roles, depending on the project experience you want them to have: Edit, Duplicate and View. Roles are tied to the user and project, and are independent of user permissions.

Additionally, all users can now share projects to groups. Non-admins can share to groups they are a member of, with the exception of “All”. Admins can share to any group, just as before.

Workspace projects can be co-edited by any user now, both admins and non-admins. Recipients added to the “Can edit” role can save over a project that has been shared to them and function as co-owners. This enables better project collaboration with members of your team.

Workspace projects can be shared as view-only by adding recipients to the “Can view” role. When a viewer opens the shared project, they receive a more restrictive project experience, with no left rail and limited interactions. This may be desired if you are sharing a project to users that are less familiar with your organization’s data structure, Analysis Workspace or Adobe Analytics generally, but you still want them to consume data and insights in a safe environment.

The Quick Insights panel (and template) provides guidance for non-analysts and new users of Analysis Workspace to learn how to answer business questions quickly and easily.

The Analytics for Target (A4T) panel lets you analyze your Adobe Target activities and experiences, with lift and confidence, in Analysis Workspace.

The blank panel in Workspace now includes panels and visualizations, giving users a more seamless way to pick the analysis workflow that they need. Just as before, users can also choose to make the blank panel their starting screen when they open a new project.

Data Collection Enhancements

First-party domains are now supported in China RDC. This enables customers with a .cn domain to request a first-party domain for use inside of mainland China.

Adobe Analytics dashboards is a mobile app that allows users anytime, anywhere access to insights from Adobe Analytics. Intended for executives seeking on-the-go access to key metrics, the app enables access to curated, interactive scorecards and will be available for both the iOS and Android operating systems.

Mobile app scorecards are built within Analysis Workspace. When you create a new project, you can choose to build a standard Workspace project, or a blank mobile scorecard. Learn more

You can now drop components directly into a blank project or panel, and a freeform table will automatically be built for you in a recommended format. Additionally, improvements were made to how mixed component types (e.g. dimension & metric) are handled when dropped into a blank freeform table together.

Video Analytics Player State tracking enables tracking of how viewers are interacting with the player during playback. This includes a standard set of solution variables, including full-screen, mute, captions, picture-in-picture, and in focus. Learn more

The Adobe Analytics team has made several accessibility improvements to Analysis Workspace, including improved keyboard navigation, color contrast, and screen reader support. Learn more

Adobe Experience Cloud: Unified Product Domain

Adobe Experience Cloud is updating the domain and interface header to unify and improve your experience across all Experience Cloud applications. These enhancements are designed to simplify your experience in small but important ways and will not change your current workflows. The migration to a unified product domain for Adobe Analytics began on January 16, 2020 and completed on May 28, 2020. Updates include:

  • New Adobe Analytics URL: https://experience.adobe.com/analytics
  • Easier switching between your organizations or to a different application.
  • Improved product help: Experience League is integrated into the product so that a help search also includes results from community forums and video content.
  • Improved notifications: Notifications drop-down now has two tabs - one for Analytics notifications, and one for more global Experience Cloud announcements. It also includes the ability to mark all notifications as read.
  • Improved product feedback options: A new feedback mechanism has been added right in the Help menu, making it easier to report issues or share your ideas. Additionally, our Analytics survey has been redesigned to be less intrusive to your workflow.

Note: While Adobe Analytics works to remove all omniture.com domain references from its architecture, it is important to add omniture.com to your allowed list as a third-party cookie. If your organization blocks third-party cookies, please reach out to Customer Care to regain your access to Adobe Analytics.

Data Collection Enhancements

Adobe Experience Platform Edge Network enables you to use a single, Web SDK tag to send data to multiple Adobe solutions. You can also forward data that was sent to Experience Edge to Adobe Analytics. Learn more

Bulk Data Insertion API enables you to easily and independently ingest batches of Analytics data, which can be useful for server-side and offline data. Learn more

Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) Enhancements

Customer Journey Analytics is now available globally, expanding to EMEA and APAC regions with this release.

Automated dataset backfills have been added to CJA. This capability lets you import all historical data for a connection from Adobe Experience Platform into CJA.

Non-production Adobe Experience Platform sandboxes can now be leveraged in CJA Connections.

Multiple Report Suites can be analyzed in a single Workspace project by selecting suites at the panel level. This allows you to conduct side-by-side panel analysis across different sets of data.

You can apply a report suite to all panels at once by right-clicking any panel and choosing "Apply Report Suite to All Panels".

Note: Data from multiple report suites cannot be combined in tables, segments or calculated metrics (summed, divided, etc). The best practice for a holistic data approach continues to be sending all hits to a global suite.

Improvements have been made to Experience Cloud Audience Publishing. You can now publish audiences (segments) and make them available six times faster, reducing the current latency time from 48 hours to approximately 8 hours, and possibly faster, depending on traffic and segment size. Additionally, the number of segments that can be published at one time has been increased from 20 to 75 per report suite.

The Analysis Workspace Training Tutorial walks users through common terminology and steps for building their first analysis in Workspace. It is available as a standard template in the New Project modal and replaces the 'Sample Project' that exists today for new users that don't have any other projects in their list.

Since this is a template, you can create your own tutorials from it, tailoring them to your organization's unique use cases and data structure (eVars, custom events).
