Sherwood Elementary "Home of the Spurs" November 2016

Please enjoy this recap of our November events. It has been busy since our last note. Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to read the calendar of our upcoming events. Don't forget to put the dates in your phone, so you will know what is happening.

We had a wonderful assembly featuring Native American dancers from our region. Thank you to Nixyaawii Community School for organizing this wonderful event. We appreciated the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the drumming and dancing of our region.
Two of our kids helped with the demonstration baking, Jairo and Yaneli were amazing!

King Arthur flour visited with our fourth and fifth grade students this year, presenting their "Bake for Good" program. Students received instruction in baking bread and then were given all of the supplies to bake two loaves of bread. One they got to eat with their families and the other was to share with those less fortunate. As of this date, Sherwood has received over 150 loaves of bread to distribute. We are coordinating with Neighbor 2 Neighbor, a local non-profit agency who will hand out bread to a variety of other agencies. Last year our products went to the warming shelter, several senior agencies, and the Salvation Army. We expect that our donations will stretch even further this year, as our students were joined by friends from McKay and Washington Elementary schools for this event. Way to go Pendleton students! You are an amazingly compassionate group.

Mrs. Waterland's class helps Mrs. Stump's first graders with their owl pellet disection! Skulls and bones were the highlight of the "treasure" hunt.
Family Fitness Night included - shuttle runs, basketball shooting, jump rope skills, dance, brain games and making stress balls. Everyone had a wonderful time.
Recapping some Halloween fun!
