It wasn’t until I started writing this newsletter that I realised how many events we have had running since last March!
Our first WOW WEEK in May had over 40 students (and parents) joining the Jive Live with Miss Christina & Miss Heather. Jive dancing and body conditioning every morning for the half term week.
We have joined with other dance schools for workshops in jazz, street dance, tap, lyrical and contemporary, not to mention Frozen & Peppa Pig! Our older students danced with Miss Cindy for Edward Scissorhands and Nutcracker workshops
Miss Carol has introduced a complimentary TAP BURST on Wednesday evenings for Gr 1 & 2 ballet students to introduce them to tap dancing.
In February we have had Stretch & Strength with Samuel and just recently 20 students attended a Virtual Animal Encounter.
Upcoming events are a Matilda Workshop with Mike Denman on Saturday (Grade 2 upwards) and a Performing Arts Mental Health workshop (12 years plus) with the amazing Headstrong company on 28th March. Please contact the office to book your place on these.
82% of our March 2020 exam students gained a Distinction and 2 of our seniors took the challenging Intermediate ballet exam at RAD HQ in Battersea. Our online classes succeeded in fulfilling their training as they passed with flying colours!
This term we have continued with exam coaching as planned and are holding teacher assessments instead of the formal exams. We wanted our students to have gained the same level of expertise in technique, performance and style as they would need to successfully pass a face to face exam. I am so pleased to say that “We did it!” and I was delighted with the outcome. We are looking forward to our ballet assessments at the end of this term.
NEW this term - Early Years DANCER OF THE WEEK (parents need to submit a short video of photo)
NEW this term – ATTENDANCE AWARD for 100% attendance, with a special group prize if the whole class has 100% attendance!
Danceforce SPLITS CLUB for any student who can do the splits all 3 ways
The Father’s Day video was my ultimate favourite event of the year! Showing families getting together and dancing with their children was beautiful and of course very entertaining!
We had our first online dance show “We are Family” for all of our students from Happy Toes to Adult classes. Each class performed 8 counts to create a lovely record to look back on for years to come.
Here are some photos of our smaller events - World Ballet Day, Christmas Bun Competition, Lockdown Photo Competition, Saturday parent strength challenge and bring a Teddy week.
We have raised an amazing £1237 from our Pyjama Week for Children in Need and Elf Week for Alzheimers. Following on from this success we plan to hold a charity week at the end of each term. This term we will be raising money for Kingston Hospital and the Easter dress up week for this will be 22 – 27th March.
