Oscar Romero Award By OISÍN O L 5th

Oscar Romero was the fourth Archbishop of El Salvador and worked on behalf of the poor of El Salvador.
Romero believed in Liberation Theology which thought how Jesus fought for the rights of the poor and the oppressed.
As Jesus said in Luke 14:13 “But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind”.
But El Salvador had a military dictatorship that would not allow Romero any criticism of the rulers
The Military had Romero killed because they thought he was stirring up too much trouble
Romero is still very popular in South America because he died a Martyr (a person of faith who dies for what he believes in)
