Worship

Psalms 32:1-5 - Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.

Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”– and you forgave the guilt of my sin.

Worship: Before you worship, take a moment to ask God if there is any sin in your life. As he prompts you, confess and repent of your sin. Now thank Jesus for his forgiveness.

Remember

Genesis 3:6-10 - When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”

He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

Remember: The rebellion of men and women breaks everything. Immediately, relationships between people, with God and with creation itself are broken. Sin has a massive “blast radius” that covers every aspect of life.

Believe

Mark 7:20-23 - He [Jesus] went on: “What comes out of a man is what makes him ‘unclean.’ For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean.’ ”

Believe: Jesus is clear about sin. It is always a choice to rebel. It never sneaks up on us and forces itself upon us. Jesus convicts specifically about our sin. Listen to him and respond.

Surrender

Philippians 3:18-20 - For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Surrender: Flee sin. It only leads to destruction. Surrender your focus and life to God’s glory, not your own.

It's time to come out of the shadows of rebellion. It only leads to more destruction. Confess and repent of any known rebellion against God. He will welcome you with open arms.
