Amsterdamming part one: going dutch

If you don't like bikes and lively streets, this isn't the city for you.

I spent six days in Amsterdam, a city famous for its canals, tulips, coffeeshops and yes, bikes. And boy, were there ever bikes! Men, women, young and old--Amsterdammers of all stripes could be found riding on two wheels. Here, bikes top the hierarchy, followed by pedestrians and then cars. I mostly got around on foot and by tram, but on my last day, I hired a bike and rode around the city like a local. It was both thrilling and terrifying.

This is my journey discovering A'dam

Day One, done.
