1 Thessalonians 4: 13 & 18

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus...Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Happy New Year! I hope that you had a blessed Christmas and holiday season! In the last week of every year, I like to take time to reflect on all that happened that year. 2016 was crazy. So many things happened — some great, some hard. In this letter, I just wanted to share a personal story of hope.

Late one night in September, I received a text from my Dad that simply said “please call when you can.” My gut knew that it wasn’t good; I called him as soon as I could. He told me that Grandpa was sick. I dropped everything and rushed to the hospital to be with him and the family. Within a week of that text, he was gone.

As our family grieved the loss of my Grandpa, we also celebrated his life with us and his life eternal. In 2004, He made the life changing decision to follow Jesus. We find our peace knowing that he is now worshiping Jesus on the other side of eternity.

In 1 Thessalonians 4: 14 & 18 it says, For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus…Therefore comfort one another with these words. Despite the sadness we may feel now, we can find our hope in Jesus’ life, death, resurrection, and ascension. Even in our loss, I can truly say in my heart that It Is Well.

As we begin 2017, let us find our hope in Jesus. In every circumstance that may happen this year, let’s find new ways to rejoice in Jesus! Thank you SO much for your continual love and support as I prepare to move to Portland.
