COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

CITY EARNS $150,000 GRANT TO PREPARE A NEW HOUSING ELEMENT

This week the City was notified that it received a $150,000 grant to update its Housing Element from the State Housing and Community Development Department. This comes on the heels of another planning grant awarded to the City of $160,000 to create objective multi-family design standards. The much needed funds will allow the City to update its existing Housing Element which set goals and policies to provide housing for an eight-year period from 2012 to 2020. The new Housing Element will help the City set new policies to meet the expected housing demand from 2021 to 2029 and review new State housing laws to ensure the City is in full compliance. The Housing Element is a chapter of its General Plan and is the only element that must be updated with in a specific timeframe and is reviewed and certified by the State of California.
