Time is precious for such a short life. In Our Town, Simon states perfectly about how time is so precious. "Yes, now you know. Now you know! That's what it was to be alive. To move about in a cloud of ignorance; to go up and down trampling on the feelings of those... of those about you. To spend and waste time as though you had a million years. To be always at the mercy of ones self-centered passion, or another. Now you know- that's the happy existence you wanted to go back to. Ignorance and blindness."
The disney movie, Up, is a great example of how much time is precious to humans. After Ellie coincidently meets Carl, they grow as friends and later fall in love with each other along the way. After only about ten minuets into the movie, Ellie dies of cancer and Carl is left by himself. Throughout the movie you see how Mr. Frederickson is still bitter from her death and how he remembers all the adventures they had together. They spent the most out of the time they had together, even though it was short.
Their life story however shows a great example of how little time we have on earth, and how we should spend it wisely. They spent every day together that they could and made the most out of the time they had. We could all learn a valuable lesson from Carl and Ellie.
I picked the theme, time is precious, because sometimes it feels like we have all the time in the world to get things done, when we really don't. I want to learn to make the most of the time we have on this earth so I don't miss out on something important. I think that everyone should stop and appreciate the time they have with their loved ones because one day you'll regret not spending as much time with them as you wish you would have. So just remember that our time on this earth is short, so we should stop every once in a while and enjoy the time we do have with our loved ones.
