Self Journey

“There is only one way to learn, it’s through action. Everything you need to know you have learned through your journey.”~ Alchemist

In the book the Alchemist Santiago is asking the alchemist how he came to know alchemy. His response is vague, but I think it reflects an overarching truth that the he is trying to convey to santiago which is that people complicate things more than they need to be. They try to explain and interpret why and how instead of just accepting that everything is written in the soul of the work and that this is why things are the way they are. When we stop trying to interpret things we can simply appreciate them for what they are. These line seem to hold a deeper meaning than what is on the surface. These lines are also referring to back what the alchemists aid learning thru action. He is an alchemist because he has done alchemy, it's as simple as that. The idea that “actions speak louder than words.” can be applied to defining who we are and what we do. (pg 126)
This quote portrays to me because it is showing that without effort (action) you won’t necessarily accomplish anything. In karate I’m constantly learning, training, and preparing not only defense techniques but for the world. My dojo is always there to make me feel better, giving me all the energy, smiles, and sweat I need. The senseis are always focused and determined on making people’s lives greater, there’s never a dull moment. Without them tutoring me the way of the world I would’ve never learned.

“It is this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what is happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world's greatest lie”~ King Melchizedek (20)

The meaning of the quote is telling us that the world is different from everyone, also having the ability to shape our futures. He discusses the world’s greatest lie asa believing that our lives are controlled by fate. This quote stood up because it is one of the first bits of controversial.
This quote stood out to me because it's meaning is very true. Sometimes we have no control of what happens to us, other than taking charge of our actions, yet some choose to believe that fate or destiny takes place in our lives. I like to believe some of that is true. If it weren't for fate bringing my mom and her best friend together I would have never met my best friend after all these years.

“At that point in their lives, everything is clear and everything is possible. They are not afraid to dream, and to yearn for everything they would like to see happen to them in their lives.” (pg24)~ King

The quote is trying to convince us by saying if a personal legend comes along, it could change our dreams.
Reading the Alchemist I took note that what the King was trying to say to Santiago was an inspirational motive to get him to follow his dreams. all my life I'e been told to dream big and reach for those goals, and now because I am I'm finding what I want to do in life, and who I want to be.

"We make a lot of detours, but we’re always heading for the same destination”~Alchemist (pg 84)

Throughout the book I came across this quote said by the alchemist and i think the meaning is that we all want the same things in life but we each take different paths to make it happen. It stood out to me because I feel like the meaning is true for my personal legend.
Analyzing this quote I realize how it relates to me. Personally my mom is always on my butt about getting my future together, when I explain I know what I am doing and how everything needs a balance. Also that some people need to take more time than others, or needs to do something else first.

“Because you will never be able to keep it quiet. Even if you pretend not to have heard what it tells you, it will always be there inside of you, repeating to you what you're thinking about life and about the world.” (page 129) ~ Alchemist

The alchemist makes these words almost as a heeding expression for Santiago. His advice is trying to tell him to follow your heart and don't hold back on your dreams, because once you give up on your dream you will regret it later.
This is by far my favorite thing the alchemist has ever said. It is absolutely true. I have always in situations where I am scared and there has always been someone to say that if you don't do it you’ll regret it later, meaning it will stay with you in your heart till you do it. I almost ran off stage for a concert where I had a solo if my friends hadn't talked me into continuing. And after I finished i got hugs, claps, and smiles all around.

"Every blessing ignored is a curse”

This quote reminds me of something an older person would say. Kinda like a warning to be on your best behavior. In other words a karma expression.
Something said as plain as it is, there's a lot of meaning to it in my opinion. Just like in middle school when your best friend had a secret they wanted you to keep, but of course ran around told someone else something always happened to you in return. In other words karma will always bite you back.
