The City Invites Public Input on Airport Master & Business Plans

We need your input! The Lee's Summit Municipal Airport is developing new master and business plans. These plans will define the airport's goals, objectives, and establish a strategy to guide airport development for the next 20 years.

Community input is a vital part of the planning process. The public is invited to provide feedback throughout the process.

Update on the Master and Business Plans

Progress continues on both the Master and Business Plans. The first few months were spent compiling detailed inventory data of the airport’s assets on both the airside and landside. A draft final version of airport inventory has been developed and coordinated with the airport and City. This document will soon be available for public and stakeholder viewing.

The previous update indicated that demand projections would be moving forward starting with an assessment of current aeronautical activity. It is important an accurate baseline of activity is gathered to project traffic levels moving forward. We’ve extended the period of time for which we are capturing aeronautical activity via cameras out at the airport due to the effects of COVID-19 on aeronautical operations. This will continue over the next month or so.

Results of the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis that took place as part of the Business Plan have been compiled and the first four chapters of the plan have been drafted by the consultancy team. In order to guide and inform both the Master Plan and Business Plan teams, we encourage you to provide feedback via the appropriate surveys.
