Many of our staff use Twitter to share the great things that are taking place in Larson classrooms. Each week, I'll share a few with you!

Next Week's Calendar

Open House -- Thursday, 7pm

We are looking forward to seeing all Larson parents on Thursday evening at 7 pm for our Open House (Curriculum Night) event. You will have an opportunity to meet each of your student's teachers, hear about the learning that will take place this year and "walk" their daily schedule. We will close the evening with cider and donuts. Please plan to join us!

A.L.I.C.E. Parent Meetings

The Troy School District is implementing the A.L.I.C.E. protocol during the 2018-19 school year. A.L.I.C.E. takes a more proactive approach in the event of a serious emergency/crisis. These protocols will eventually replace "Code Red" lockdown drills that have been conducted for many years. All district employees have started training and this training will continue during the school year.

We will also conduct informational parent meetings, which will be held at all four middle schools. The information below includes dates, times and locations for the A.L.I.C.E parent meetings. You can attend the session that is most convenient for your schedule.

Thursday, October 4th at 7:00pm – Smith Middle School

Tuesday, October 9th at 7:00pm – Boulan Park Middle School

Wednesday, October 10th at 7:00pm – Baker Middle School

Thursday, October 11th at 7:00pm – Larson Middle School

Reproductive Health Parent Preview (7th Grade Parents)

The annual parent preview for the material used in our Reproductive Health unit in 7th grade Health classes will be held in the Larson Media Center at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 2. Please note that this is the only time scheduled for this event --you should plan on attending if your child has Health during the first or second semester and you are interested in previewing these materials.

Chess Club

The Larson Chess Club starts next Friday right after school from 2:45 - 3:45 pm in Room 202. All LMS students are welcome to attend! If you have any questions, please email club sponsor, Mr. George. (ajieshgeorge@yahoo.com)

Counseling Survey

The annual counseling department survey will be administered to students on Monday, September 17. The survey is a critical tool used to help the TSD middle school counselors determine appropriate programs and services to address student needs. Parents may preview the survey at the link below.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s counselor. Abbie Stys, Last Names A-L – astys@troy.k12.mi.us or Lauren Field, Last Names M-Z – lfield@troy.k12.mi.us

Green Team

The Green Team has been working hard in the LMS Garden, weeding the beds and harvesting our fall crops. Students may join the Green Team using the Schoology access code BZ643-XWGC7. Green Team t-shirts will be on sale through October 1st and may be purchased on PaySchools for $9.50.

Dress Code Reminders

Help your student dress for success! At our class meetings earlier this week, we reviewed the TSD dress code with all students. We appreciate your support in discussing and helping to enforce these district expectations!
