Getting to Know Erika

I was born and raised in Boise, Idaho until I decided to branch out of my comfort zone and attend an out of state university. I've recently achieved dual citizenship with the United States and Germany so traveling and immersing myself in a variety of cultures is something that greatly interests me. I also love exploring and discovering new places whether they're close to home or across the pond. I can be best reached at vive6366@pacificu.edu.

I would consider myself "good" with a camera but always crave to learn more. I currently own a Nikon d7100 but love growing and experimenting with it everyday. I'm constantly taking pictures in my free time and find that I am my happiest when creating. Photography is something that constantly pushes me and helps me explore my senses. I've done portraiture, cityscapes, but I am my happiest when shooting landscapes. I also consider myself a writer. I'm a Journalism major but find interest in creative writing from time to time.

I have a little more than a basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop but the main reason I wanted to take this class is to learn how to make my photos truly pop. I would also love to know how to make interesting and exciting manipulations that offer a surreal and exciting take. My goal in life is to surround myself in all things photography and eventually become a photojournalist and I feel this class could help me in doing that through a more advanced understanding of photoshop, specifically. I also have interest in Indesign and look forward to better understanding that process as well.
