Foundation Announces Agriculture Science Scholarship Endowment:

A new $100,000 scholarship endowment focusing on agriculture science was announced by the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Foundation.

The John M. Howard Family Agricultural Science Scholarship Endowment will provide four or more scholarships to full-time students in good standing pursuing degrees in agriculture sciences. First, second and third-year students are eligible, with preferences given to residents of Agua Dulce and surrounding towns, and to those students who are studying ag/mechanics and want to become ag teachers.

The endowment comes from a pledge from son Mike Howard of San Antonio, supported by his siblings and family, to honor their father John M. Howard.

Javelina electric car cruises to second place finish:

A team of students from the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville recently competed in the South Texas USA Greenpower Electric Car Competition and placed second. This was the first time the race has been held in South Texas. In future years winners will be able to advance on to a national competition.

The students were tasked with assembling a vehicle, designing an aerodynamic body and modifying the vehicle as much as possible to travel the furthest distance in 90 minutes. The Texas A&M-Kingsville team was the first to modify the roll cage.
