On May 2, 2019, the University of Michigan School of Public Health community came together to celebrate the individual achievement of our more than 450 graduates, and the community of support that provided encouragement and resolve when it was needed.

"Look around you. These are the colleagues who will be with you during your journey. Rely on one another, encourage one another, inspire one another. Though you came from different backgrounds and experiences, you will forever be connected going forward."

DuBois Bowman, Dean of the School of Public Health

"Public health is the relentless pursuit of a more just, equitable, liberating, and healthier world; both individually and collectively."

Lello Guluma, Student Graduation Speaker, Class of 2019

[Public Health is] what we, as a society, do collectively to assure the conditions for people to be healthy. It’s what we do to empower people to live their healthiest lives in the communities where they live, learn, work, pray, and play.

Abdul El-SayedPublic Health Doctor and Progressive Activist
