It also has 2 seven-story parking ramps that provide 12,287 parking spaces. Mall of America has 42 million visitors a year, that's roughly 8 times the population of Minnesota.

Old Mall of America

The Ghermezian brothers met with New York offitials in 1987 to discuss about the "mega mall". Aug. 11 1992 is the day Mall of America opened to the public. The Ghermezian brothers gained full controll of Mall of America on November 3, 2006 by spending $1 billion.

In Mall of America you can go to Nickelodeon Universe amusement park that used to be called Camp Snoopy. In Nickelodeon Universe amusement park there are rides like SbongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge, Avatar Airbender, and BrainSurge. In Mall of America you can go to Lego, in Lego there are huge Lego structures and you can play with the Legos too. Mall of America also has a miniature golf course called Moose Mountain that has 18 holes. In the mall you can go to the Sea Life Minnesota, which is a water show that involves sea life. In the mall you can eat at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. inside or outside. Finally, at the mall in the Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium you can have sleepovers, scuba diving, snorkling, and birthday parties.

The number of rides ridden since the mall opened, was more than 174 million. The mall makes $2 billion in economic activity annually for Minnesota. The Lego play area in the mall has lost more than 170,000 Legos. Each year Mall of America recycles 32,000 tons of trash. There have been more than 8,700 weddings in the mall. All year round the mall is 70 degrees. There are 27 rides in Nickelodeon Universe. The mall could fit 9 Yankee Stadiums. 3 out of every 10 visitors in Mall of America are tourists. There are more than 400 events held at the mall each year.
