Art Forum Newsletter April 2017

Happy Spring, Everybody!

It won't be long now and we'll be able to take our sketch pads outside or open our studio windows wide. After being cooped up inside all winter, I hope you find new inspiration in Nature.

The monthly challenge is optional. Members may use this opportunity to stretch themselves and create something out of their comfort zone or they may bring another piece that is unrelated to the theme for "show and tell". The Theme for April is "Light"

The March theme was "Trust"

At the last meeting, the advantages to Instagram were brought up. It's a great way to show your art without dealing with the political junk that's on Facebook. If you are not on it already, it's worth checking out. The members below are on it and can probably give you a little insight. If you are on Instagram, and want to be listed in upcoming newsletters, just let Cenya know at

An Epidemic in Retrospective

Brilliant opportunity to become part of this very interesting book. For more information, contact Aunia at

On our journey to share a world based in art and creativity whether shared publicly or as a personal experience; the road can be short, bumpy and even gone out of view and thought to cease forever as we travel. An Epidemic in Retrospect is a compilation of writings collected from individuals on this journey sharing their experiences and what they have learned from the very beginning until now. Although their travels are far from over, their insight is profound. Each letter a personal note to ones former and younger less experienced self with individual chunks of wisdom, inspiration, lessons and observations acquired thus far.

1. Compose a “handwritten” physical letter about your individual journey as an artist or creative while sharing your experiences, wisdom, insights or things learned on the road to where you are today. This is very open and you are very welcome to be creative in your approach. This will be printed in full color. Feel free to use any medium as long as it can be scanned in High Resolution for printing.

2. No required length of the letter

3. All artists will get a 2 pages in the book, one showcasing their letter and the other showcasing their favorite artwork along side.

4. High Resolution Images: Letter + 1 Artwork, 300 DPI, No smaller than 8” on the smallest side. (You may also physically mail the letter to me as well)

5. Example page below using my art, and a really amazing vintage letter find. The script and stamp was inspiring, so I thought I would share. I also attached a few other letters for example.

6. Signed publishing contract stating you have exclusive rights to the work you submit and we have the right to publish it in this book, while you retain your rights.

+ All artists will be able to purchase books at wholesale price plus shipping.
