What’s new with Google?
You create an assignment in the class stream. While you’re creating an assignment, you can save a draft and assign it at a later date, or schedule it to post at a later date. After students complete and turn in their work, you can grade and return it to the students. https://support.google.com/edu/classroom/answer/6020265
Customise your notifications
As a teacher in Classroom, you can set up notifications for certain activities. You can also customize how you receive notifications on your mobile device. https://support.google.com/edu/classroom/answer/6141557
Differentiate work assignments
Classroom now makes it a lot easier for teachers to assign work to individual students and groups based on their unique needs. As you're creating an assignment, post or question, you can choose whether to share it with the entire class or just with a group of students. https://www.blog.google/topics/education/new-google-classroom-features-make-it-easier-learn-teach-manage-and-build/
iPads @ MCC in 2017?
My goal for 2017 is to consolidate eLearning program further. This is our third year with iPads, but our first with senior students engaging with them in the classroom. There has been so many great examples of how iPads have been used by you all. Many of you have tried different ways of delivering content, collecting work, providing feedback, utilising formative assessment tools, having students create tasks, etc. Hopefully this year we can choose what we felt worked really well and improve what needed attention.
My goal is to continue to provide PL opportunities (from the basics to the advanced, wherever you are please tell me what you want to learn and I will endeavour to help you), engage in some more of my own PL to bring back to everyone, and also provide more connections with how the iPads can support the work we are doing with Cultures of Thinking.
