Hello Eagles!
This week was very transformative! On our Halloween Monday, students were introduced to our new Hogwarts classroom! I have been planning this remodel for a few months and finally got to reveal it to the students. This was not just a cosmetic update to the classroom aesthetics, but will also influence how we engage in class discussions and will provide opportunities for students to earn rewards!
Welcome to Hogwarts!
I am a huge Harry Potter fan and I have always thought that it would be a cool way to engage my students in our lessons by making it feel like what we were learning was magical. I gave the students a "Mystery Quiz" a couple weeks ago and used that to sort them into their Hogwarts Houses. I am a proud Hufflepuff!
Now that the students are all sorted into their Houses they will be awarded House Points (marbles) for staying on task, paying attention, helping others, and generally meeting classroom expectations. At the end of each week I will tally up which House earned the most House Points and declare a winner of the House Cup on the following Monday. The House that wins will be eligible to choose from a list of small prizes. The House Cup is up for grabs every week so if your House doesn't win one week, you always have a new chance to win!
MATH 2
This week we learned how to find the greatest common factor of two numbers.
Coming up next week, we will be exploring how to find the least common multiple of two numbers.
Math 3
This week in Math 3 we learned the basics of how to use long division. This is a very useful skill to have.
Next week we will cover the distributive property of multiplication.
Learning Strategies

Next week, on Tuesday, we will have a guest speaker from Glencoe High School, Ms. Burger, talking about all things high school.
