Online Participation Research 3 Research and Community InformedPractice Assessment

Before enrolling in the Mind Lab course, I had joined a couple of online discussion forums where I would read what other educators shared about their teaching and learning experiences. I found the information interesting and often relevant to what I was doing and could be doing in my classroom but had never plucked up the courage to get involved in any of the discussions. So taking the first steps into getting connected for me has been a learning journey in itself.

I started entering the conversations by agreeing with what I was reading offline but didn't share my thoughts online.

The inspiration for me to become more involved in online forums was the wanting to be a better teacher for my kids, Mind Lab classes, online learning discussions and a colleague who helped me to see the benefits of being connected.
JUMP!

I took the leap and have started participating in, and initiating online discussions . I realise that this learning will be on-going and my personal goal is to keep a record of the journey I take.

Online Participation
This discussion was about how different/diverse personalities collaborate effectively in an ILE and interestingly enough led on to how to find a balance between school and home.
This discussion was interesting as it was about learning spaces and teachers handing over ownership to students, to design the spaces. It also backed up some of the thinking behind the research I found while doing our Literature Review, which was about the use of Space in an ILE.
This discussion was initiated to help me understand some of the challenges our team might face as we move into an ILE.
THIS DISCUSSION WAS ABOUT HOW TO IMPLEMENT SEESAW IN AN ILE. THE CONVERSATION HAS SHOWN ME THAT THIS TOOL COULD BE USED AS A GOOD COMMUNITY COMMUNICATOR AND FOR ASSESSMENT.
THE ABOVE CONVERSATION WAS ABOUT PERSONALISATION OF LEARNING .
Collaborating and sharing ideas online is becoming easier for me the more I become involved.

My Mantra.......'ONLINE COLLABORATION'
