Just a little bit ago a company called Keystone XL decided to make a pipeline 1,200 long going through native land, and right under the Missouri River. Which was a big problem for the people living there because that's where they get there fresh water!
Sadly though backtracking to September. 3,2016 the people working on the pipe there started pepper spraying and unleashed some dogs on the protesters when one of the protesters was reported to have injured a worker there. Although after the chaos died down it is said in the article that while only three workers were hurt, 30 of the protesters were pepper sprayed, one almost lost her arm to a rubber bullet AND 12 were bit by the dogs.
Anyway it just got worse from there people started coming to help the protesters while weapons were brought to workers, it was a terrible cycle.
Fast forward once more time and now we're here. The pipeline project has been halted to look for another route.
