Welcome, Dublin!

A huge thank you from the Battle Cancer team for signing up for Battle Cancer Dublin and for all of your hard work raising funds for your chosen cancer charities. We can't wait to see you throw down on our comp floor!

Here's what you need to know...

Spectators

Family, friends and fans can spectate for free! Bring along your entourage for a fun day of competition, live music, food, vendors and more for the whole family.

Waiver

Please make sure EVERY person in your team has signed our waiver as you can't compete without signing it. We will be emailing reminders to those who haven't, so look out for an email from Competition Corner or log in to your Competition Corner account. If you're unsure, email freya@battlecancer.com

For last minute athlete changes there will be paper copies at registration on the day.

Last minute team changes

You can make any changes to your team through your account with Competition Corner up to two weeks before the event. After that, team names, affiliates, divisions and t-shirts sizes cannot be changed. If a member of your team is unable to compete for any reason within two weeks of the event please just bring a replacement on the day. They'll be able to sign a paper copy of the waiver at registration.

Venue: Point Square

Battle Cancer Dublin will be held at Point Square, East Wall Road, D01 E0K6. Look out for stewards who will show you where to go.

There is plenty of parking for cars on site at the Point Square Euro car park but please be aware that there is a height restriction of 1.9m. Alternatively, you can make your way by public transport.

Registration

Doors open at 8:30 and registration will run from 8:30 - 9:30.

Please help us keep queues short! Send your Team Captain only to register your whole team at the desk. Have your team name and affiliate handy so that our volunteers can find you quickly.

Once registered at the desk, your team will be shown where to collect t-shirts and name boards. One t-shirt per athlete, 1 name board per team. We're sorry but athletes are unable to swap t-shirt sizes once collected.

Timings for the day can be found below. We will release details of heats closer to the day.

Please note that teams are required to be in the designated holding areas at the start of the heat prior to theirs.

Workouts

Workouts have been released! View descriptions and videos in the link below and read our scoring notes. Standards are as follows for men/women, all weights are in kilograms:

Kettlebell 24/16, Dumbbell 20/15, Plates 20/15, 2-Person Worm 60kg

Surprise WOD 5!

A surprise fifth workout will be announced and fully demonstrated on the day.

At the end of WOD 4, the leaderboard will be divided into two tiers. Each division will have two tiers so that all teams go into WOD 5 with the chance to stand on the podium and win prizes.

Athlete Kit

There's no need to bring any extra special fitness equipment with you on the day, we don't have skipping in our workouts or other movements that would require extra equipment.

Just bring all your usual kit including appropriate clothing and any supports you use (belts and sleeves are all OK).

We are afraid that there is no secure area for you to leave your kit bags or personal belongings so please be aware that you leave items at your own risk.

Food & Drink

Our brand partner, Kettlebell Kitchen will be serving up healthy meal prep, drinks and coffee all day. Vegetarians and vegans catered for! There are also a number of additional eateries within the Point Square complex.

Another of our brand partners, Progenex, will also be sampling and selling a range of their superior quality supplements and products.

You're very welcome to bring your own food but please be aware that there will not be any facilities to heat it up if you do chose to bring your own.

Water: while water will be available to purchase, there is no water fountain or tap water facility at our venue. Please bring plenty of water with you if you don't want to buy it!

Charities

On hand for a chat about the wonderful work they do, we have a number of cancer charities in attendance including:

The Irish Cancer Society - Dedicated to eliminating cancer and improving the lives of those currently suffering, the Irish Cancer Society offers a wealth of information and services as well as supporting fundraising and funding cancer research.

CLIC Sargent - CLIC Sargent fights tirelessly to stop cancer destroying young lives. From financial support, day to day support, expert care from nurses, providing free accommodation for families around the corner from hospitals and services for teens and young adults, CLIC Sargent raises awareness and funds for young people and their families.

Athlete Welfare

On the day of the event we will have a team of first aiders on site just incase something goes wrong.

We know that many of you who are taking part are super competitive and we love that, we just want to make sure that everyone leaves the day in one piece. If you have any concerns or something goes wrong please let your judge know and they will be able to point you in the direction of a first aider. If you being to feel unwell please don't suffer, tell a volunteer and we can be on hand to make sure you enjoy the day happy and healthy.

Don't forget that Compex are on hand to offer muscle stim recovery in between WODs!

Rules & Conduct

Battle Cancer is run by volunteers and our goal is to raise as much money as possible for cancer charities.

We are incredibly passionate about making sure you have the best event possible and will be working very hard on the day to make this happen. We kindly ask that your conduct matches the spirit of the day and that you show kindness to volunteers, staff and fellow athletes. Please follow instructions from staff and judges, adhere to timings and ensure any admin we ask to be completed is done so. We also ask that you avoid leaving any rubbish at the venue and use the bins provided.

Scoring

Once a scorecard has been signed by a team member, that team has accepted that score. We strongly recommend that you check your score(s) before signing a scorecard. If you have a query on your score, you can request to speak to the head judge of that arena, but only before signing the scorecard. Video, photos, cell phone media or any other media will not constitute grounds for changing or modifying a decision, score or entry made by an event judge.
