Mission Updates November, 2020

Praise God for Carlos and Yolanda Casco and the decades they've spent serving God all over the world!

Carlos & Yolanda travel all over Latin America presenting Inductive Bible Study seminars that teach pastors & leaders how to study, understand, and apply the Word of God. They also bless others through marriage seminars and their own 55+ years of marriage experience.

Praises:

  • Carlos has been teaching on Facebook every week, and has seen a "congregation" of up to 400 people "attending" from all over the world!
  • Ecuador has begun to open travel up again, and the Cascos have already been able to present several Inductive Bible Study seminars.

Please pray:

  • for continued creativity to minister in various ways in a changed world.
  • for wisdom and provision as they plan trips as travel restrictions lift. Carlos and Yolanda will need to travel by personal vehicle rather than public transportation and stay in hotels rather than in homes due to Covid.

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest. Matthew 9:37-38

Noelle & Matt Harris - Uganda

Praise God for Matt & Noelle Harris, who serve in Uganda:

  • for the safe birth of their beautiful daughter, Charlotte!
  • for precious times of re-connection with their families while here in the USA.
  • for time to study and learn.

Prayer Requests:

  • Continued rest, relaxation, and re-connection.
  • for God to continue to direct every step.
Janice Evans - Ukraine

Praises:

  • God has blessed Janice Evans, who serves in Ukraine, with a friendship with Miriam, a Nigerian woman living with her baby in Ukraine. Miriam is a Christian and is waiting for documents so her husband can join her.
  • Continued rich times in the Word of God, meeting with people, and improving her Russian language skills.

Prayers:

  • Janice's church plant is planning to start a Friday night fellowship time for youth and young adults. Please pray for wisdom and for the right youth to come and hear the gospel.
  • Pray for Pavel, who is teaching the church planting team Russian. He is an atheist but is attracted to the team and likes to spend time with them.
Linda Weber - France

Praise God for Linda Weber, who continues to serve faithfully in Lamorlaye, France! More praises:

  • The church continues to meet in spite of Covid restrictions. Last week, 13 Christians met in a garage with the door wide open in 45 degree weather. They were required to space their chairs far apart and sing with masks, but they had a new college student come with his mother, who sings in Linda's choir, plus another new lady named Diane. None of them had ever attended church before.
  • God has provided the church with a pastor who has already moved to Lamorlaye from Paris.
  • After 2 years of prayer and waiting, they have been given permission to begin meeting in the Lamorlaye chapel.
  • Linda has clear plans to stay in Lamorlaye until August, 2021, and then to come home to the USA to begin the retirement process. Several open doors encouraged her to stay - the retirement home requested she resume her visits for prayer and praise, the church started meeting again with new people, the ladies in the choir have asked to meet again even if they can't sing, and deepening relationships have created space for deeper spiritual conversations.
  • Angelica's boyfriend has accepted Christ as his savior.

Please pray:

  • Even though they have permission to meet in the chapel, they are restricted to 19 people at a time. Please pray for wisdom for how to accommodate the current church and add more!
  • for Angelica and her boyfriend to grow in their faith and follow Christ in discipleship.
  • for continued deep spiritual conversations with her friends and the ladies in the choir.
  • for blessings on Linda's residency papers and car repairs so she can stay in France until August, 2021.
Marie & Nolan Schockey - Mexico

Praise God:

  • Nolan & Marie Schockey report lots of people coming with lots of questions about the End Times and how they should respond to everything going on around them. They have found open hearts for the gospel, and many are being saved in Juarez! Many, including parents, are coming to the kids' & teen clubs.
  • All of their ministries have opened back up again except for the Federal police. After years of praying for an open door, one of their graduates, Javier, has also been invited to share devotions with the State police.

Prayer Requests:

  • Many of their team have been sick with Covid, including Nolan, who is recovering but still weak. Please pray for full recovery and return to ministry for the whole team!
  • Javier & Pedro are sharing and counseling with around 200 state police twice a day every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please pray for wisdom and continued open doors. They have spoken with Javier about the possibility of him also going to the main offices in Chihuahua to share.
  • Marie & Javier as they provide marital counseling for a young couple in the program. The wife is dealing with PTSD from several members of her family being murdered a few years ago.
  • One of the pastors fell back into drinking. Other students and graduates have stepped in to cover his ministries while he goes to Chihuahua for a 2 month stay in U-Turn, where he will receive spiritual counsel and restoration in their addiction ministry. Please pray for this to be a time of redemption that brings deep healing for his family and for him.
The Middle East - Lebanon & Northern Iraq

Praise God for Mike, our missionary to the Middle East, and his recent outreach to Lebanon and Northern Iraq.

Praise God for:

  • opportunities to minister to people who lost their homes in the recent explosion in Beirut, Lebanon. Mike's team was able to help with apartment repairs and distribute food and medicine.
  • meetings in Northern Iraq with various government officials to discuss religious freedom and plans for a new private school to serve children of all faiths. The school will teach the basics of math, reading, and English, plus respect for those of other opinions and religious backgrounds. Most schools in the region teach only the majority religion, which causes problems for many of the children.
  • Mike was able to distribute school supplies for 60 Yazidi children, which will enable them to attend school.

Prayer Requests:

  • Covid has hit several team members in Lebanon. Please pray for all to experience complete healing, especially Joseph, who has been especially ill.
  • God's favor on a shipment of 1,000 wheelchairs Mike and his team hope to take into Lebanon next month.
  • God's continued favor with the Northern Iraqi government and continued freedom to minister to the refugees.
  • Covid has made the Northern Iraqi refugees' plight even worse. Please pray for plans to assist with business start-ups and training next year.
Sanctuary of Hope - Kenya

Praise God:

  • The Kenyan government allowed all the children to return to school last month.

Please pray:

  • for continued protection for Kenya, the Sanctuary of Hope children and staff, and Mathare Worship Centre, our sister church in the Mathare Valley slum.
  • for all the teens as they resume school and readjust to life back in Nairobi.
  • for Janet & Geoffrey, who still expect to begin university in January, 2021.
Diwali

On November 14, 2020, over a billion people will celebrate the Hindu festival of Diwali. Pray that God will lead them to the true Light of the World, Jesus!

"Then Paul stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said, 'Men of Athens, I see that in every way you are very religious. For as I walked around and examined your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore what you worship as something unknown, I now proclaim to you." Acts 17:22- 23
