Metropolitan Police Safer Schools Visit Raising Awareness of Knife and Weapon Crime - Year 7 & 8 PSHE

A huge thank you to the Metropolitan Police Safer Schools Team who visited Orley Farm, yesterday, to discuss and raise awareness of knife and weapon crime in London.

The children were made aware of the law regarding carrying a weapon, what is perceived to be a weapon and how to react when approached by somebody brandishing a weapon. The team also brought along some of their weapon detection equipment and the children were allowed to take part in a fun activity of trying to beat the metal detector!

The children were fantastic and asked some really perceptive and thoughtful questions, impressing the officers with their ability to relate to the topic in such a mature and knowledgeable manner.

The talk concluded with the officers discussing the opportunities available when becoming part of the Harrow Police Cadets. Many of the children were keen to learn more about this. A link to their Twitter page can be found by clicking the link below.
