Led by renowned architects Perkins+Will, with support from KSi and WSP, the architectural design of Moving in the Spirit's new home involved 64 stakeholders -- from students, alumni, and parents to board members, staff, artistic directors and community partners.
The state-of-the-art facility will double Moving in the Spirit’s enrollment from 250 to 500 students. Positioned directly next to the MARTA rail line, the facility meets our community’s need for transit-accessibility.
A 138-seat theater will serve as a resource to Atlanta’s professional dance community and broaden Moving in the Spirit’s reach to an additional 15,000 families each year through performances and workshops.
On March 13, 2020, Moving in the Spirit received our certificate of occupancy for our new home, days before our city shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
We offered virtual and hybrid programming during that time, and are thrilled to now be teaching in-person classes in our beautiful new studios!

A donation of $500 will gift a Theatre Chair in our new facility! On each chair, there will be an artist-designed bird affixed to the chair and engraved with a unique and inspiring word selected by the students of Moving in the Spirit.
Once the theatre opens, you will receive a commemorative replica of your beautiful bird as our gift of thanks to you. In addition to receiving your twin bird, your name will be installed within the theatre to reflect your amazing support!
This is an opportunity to give at a level that feels good to you! Whether it be $5 or $50K, you can contribute to Atlanta's first youth-centered, transit-oriented development. Moving in the Spirit's new home is an incubator, a launch pad and a portal to the intersection of dance and connectivity!
