The Bridge took about just over thirteen years and opened on May twenty fourth 1883.

Some interesting facts about the Brooklyn Bridge is that during construction twenty to thirty people died. Also the first to cross the Brooklyn Bridge was a rooster. When the Bridge was built it was the longest suspension Bridge in the world until 1903.
When it opend they had a massive celebration and the Bridge toll was higher then it was now.
