AIAA Bake Sale - To continue raising funds for the organization, we will be holding a bake sale in Student Center South. We will be selling pumpkin cookies, pigs in a blanket, cider, hot cocoa, and other deliciousness. November 12th, 10 am - 4 pm, Student Center South.

3rd General Meeting - The third and final general meeting of the semester will be the grand finale! We will be hosting Rex Walheim, a UH alumnus and NASA astronaut. This will be one out of this world event you won't want to miss! Food will be provided. November 13th, 7 - 9 pm, in room 116 of the Science and Research Building (SR116).

Team Updates

UAV Team - is doing research on plane designs, building techniques, and avionics systems. During their latest meeting on November 5th, they decided on which plane design they will be pursuing for this season. Some preliminary CAD designs can be found in the picture to the left. The team has many technically inclined members, but few have experience building planes. Accordingly, the team is going full force on researching all the ins and outs of building a plane-type drone so they can be prepared for construction during the spring semester.

Hobby Rocket Team - Team manager Jose has finished his carbon fiber rocket after some final tweaks and fixes that still needed to be done. Jordan Palmer has continued his progress on the thrust vectoring device he is working on (picture to the right) and a second revision of it will be 3D printed in the near future. For anyone interested in joining Hobby Rocket Team, Meetings are on Fridays at 6pm in Science and Research 532 and anyone is free to join! The team also has a discord.

Space City Rocketry - The team has been accepted into IREC for the 2020 Spaceport America Cup competition and has been assigned team number 53. The various subteams have been working on design improvements and 3D printing of prototypes. On Friday, November 8, a number of these prototypes will undergo material testing and structural analysis to determine their viability. The team is also discussing different payload ideas and will decide on one at the end of the month. Finally, the team's PDR will be on November 15 and preparations for that event are ongoing.
