Men's Hockey Finish Top of the League
Yesterday men's hockey travelled to Leeds Beckett in their final league game of the regular season, in a fixture that could see them seal the BUCS North Premier B League title. After an uneasy start, where the team went down 2-0 to the home side within the first 10 minutes, coach Moodie's side found a way to rally and come out on top with a 3-2 win.
The goal scorers in this match were; Jamie Wong, Ross Jamieson and Dan Coultas.
Jamie Wong and Dan Coultas alongside teammate Dave Forrester have also been selected for the Scotland Senior Men Squad travelling away to face France in three matches this week with Coach Graham Moodie assisting. Good luck team!
Coach Graham Moodie on this Season and Winning the League
"It's very pleasing to win this league. We've had a number of challenges with availability, especially away from home and it's been a real club effort to win the title. I think we have used about 29-30 different players and all those that have played deserve credit for this."
Congratulations to everyone involved and to all of the Men's Hockey Club members here in Edinburgh on your continued success!
Women's Basketball Beat Newcastle Away
Women's basketball were also on the road this week to Newcastle, a team who had previously taken them into over-time earlier in the season. Despite beating Newcastle last time they faced them, the match would still be an important and challenging fixture in the women's season. However, the Edinburgh University side came out on top with an emphatic 80-45 win over their closest rivals.
The women now sit in 4th with Newcastle in 5th going into BUCS Premier League Final 8s.
Women's Hockey Win Away to Leeds Beckett
Women's hockey also returned to Edinburgh with a win over Leeds Beckett last night. Their final score was the same as the men's, a close fought battle but a 3-2 win for the Edinburgh University side. Congratulations to women's hockey who are currently 4th in the BUCS Premier League North A.
