Creative Writing Circle A student group for finding your voice as a writer

Do you enjoy writing poems, stories, plays, or anything creative? Are you willing to share your work with like-minded students?

This is our third year for the CW Circle - we are always welcoming new members!
Poems, short stories, plays...any writing you create in your own time!
We published two issues of the literary magazine last year and plan on two more this school year!

PALCS is again offering a platform for students to write, share, discuss, and critique their work in an informal group setting. Our goals are for you to gain some ideas for your creative pieces from your peers and also from a few of our English teachers. You can also bring forth anything you are working on either for school, a creative portfolio, or for just your own personal use and allow the group to review or help improve your work. In addition the faculty advisors will help initiate ideas to create stories, poems, characters, and other exercises to help get you writing.

Peer-reviewing and sharing of ideas...or just submit your work for the magazine!

When the Creative Writing Circle will meet: We will meet every two weeks on Tuesday afternoons, from 2:30pm-3:30pm, beginning October 5th. We are flexible with other meeting dates/times based on the availability of the members. In 2017-2018 we began this group, and it was a great success! We have since published six online literary magazines for students and families at PALCS and plan to create winter and spring issues again this year.

We will have our first meeting on Tuesday October 5th, 2020 at 2:30pm.

Who can join the CW Circle? Any student at PALCS in grades 9-12. You don't have to have any special skill set, experience, or ability level... only an interest in creative writing and an open mind!

Can I use the CW to improve my writing skills? In some ways, yes. We will not be focusing on grammar, spelling, technical writing, or anything necessarily related to schoolwork. The emphasis is more on story-telling, finding your own voice as a writer, and gaining new insight on how to start the process.

Where will the meetings be held? We will meet in a teacher virtual room using zoom. You do not have to leave your home/workplace to be a part of this group!

Are you interested in joining? This is a brand new opportunity! We need members for this to be productive, even if it's only a small group. Please sign-up using the google form linked here. The form contains a basic questionnaire about your interests in writing.
