Dear Candidate

Thank you for your interest in the role of ICT Technician at Huxlow Science College. We trust this application pack provides you with an insight into life at our College and encourages you to apply for the role.

We are incredibly proud of our school, a medium sized Secondary Academy (11-18), located in Irthlingborough, East Northamptonshire. After a fantastic Ofsted in June 2016 and as the new Headteacher I am committed to improving the school even further for our students.

In 2019, Year 11 students achieved some of the best GCSE results in the College’s history. 53% of students gained 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths at Grade 4 and above. Recent CAGs and TAGs have returned record progress data for the school. We were delighted by these excellent results which reflect the high level of dedication of both our students and staff. This has strengthened our position on our journey to becoming an outstanding school.

At Huxlow we are committed to ensuring all students are happy, feel safe and are taught exceptionally well. These are important ingredients to prepare students for their next steps and academic success. We are passionate about caring for our students and ensuring that they are all known as individuals. Ofsted stated that, “everyone in the school puts pupils’ well-being at the centre of everything they do”. Highly effective support and guidance mechanisms support us to meet all students’ needs.

We are equally devoted to caring for our staff. Our Wellbeing Group are committed to initiatives at the forefront of staff well-being. We are driving through our action plan for continuous improvement and removing the stigma around mental health. Recent staff surveys judged staff morale to be outstanding.

Academic success is hugely important to us as we recognise its power to open doors for young people. We have a rich history of students of all abilities, and from a wide variety of backgrounds, meeting and exceeding their potential.

We place an emphasis on respect for each other, striving for excellence in everything that we do and working together to ensure that our community is constantly developing. Huxlow students are exceptional, staff go the extra mile, and we are dedicated to Professional Learning and Development.

Please explore our website, and in particular the newsletter section, to gain a flavour of what it means to be part of the Huxlow Science College community. We hope you are as impressed by our school as we are. I look forward to receiving your application should you decide you want to be a part of the Huxlow team.

Please contact the school if you have any questions or require any further information.

Yours faithfully, Paul Letch (Headteacher)
