Teaching Methods Portfolio Adult education and Human Resource Development

Hello my name is Adly Norelus. I am a third year doctoral student in the Adult Education Human Resource Development program at Florida International University.

On February 18, 2017, Maria Alvarez, Ronaine Jones, and I lead a class discussion on Teaching Methods. We used a number of teaching methods to explain teaching methods including lecture, role-playing, group discussions, use of video, direct discussions, and project-based learning. The lecture portion of the session allowed us to provide adult learners general information on teaching methods.

We used the other teaching methods to teach the students about the Department of Education, the new Secretary of Education Betsy Devos. This was a missed opportunity to further elaborate on theories and literature involving teaching methods.

Overall, the presentation went well. We received positive feedback students. Many students indicated they learned how to incorporate many different styles of teaching methods in their teaching portfolio in the future. This was the overall goal of the session.
