Philip-Lorca diCorcia

Phillip-Lorca diCorcia is a American photographer. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1951. He studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and after attended Yale where he got his Masters of Fine Arts in 1979. He now teaches at Yale University and lives in New York City.

Phillip switches up between staged compositions and informal snapshots. He takes everyday real life situations and turns them into photographs. His work can be identified as documentary photography.

diCorcia uses elements of light and space in his photographs. He stages real life situations in his photographs. He uses lots of symbolism to incorporate into his photographs. I like these because he uses unique lighting and the way the pictures are staged.
