Indicadores Dinámicos del Éxito en la Lectura (IDEL)
The IDEL is a standardized formative assessment used to determine basic Spanish literacy skills. This test is usually delivered to children who are learning to read in Spanish. IDEL is delivered through a series of modules and can assess benchmark measures as well as monitor progress. IDEL screens linguistic abilities utilized within basic reading including phonological awareness and the alphabetic principle. IDEL is a validated and researched measurement. While based on the same research and theories as DIBEL (Dynamic Indicator of Basic Early Literacy Skills), IDEL is a unique validated instrument and not merely a translated version of DIBEL.

Interesting information about IDEL
The Center of Teaching and Learning at University of Oregon offers free materials for IDEL (and DIBELS) assessment and a rich collection of research technical support material.
Assessments such as IDEL and DIBELS should never be used as prep materials. Using these measures to help prep students invalidates the measures. Similarly, assessments should never be used to determine a grade.
