The Puerto Princesa Palawan Cathedral, Immaculate Concepcion
Plaza Cuartel in Palawan - Philippines Plaza Cuartel is located in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. It is near the wharf of Puerto Princesa so one can get a good view of the blue ocean. At present, it is now a part of the town plaza complex. It is easy to locate by going to the opposite side of Immaculate Conception Cathedral, the citys main cathedral. This is a good spot to take a rest and just enjoy the beauty of nature by looking out to the clear blue sea of Palawan. Aside from getting close to nature, the place also has a lot of tales to tell. Plaza Cuartel has a colorful history because of the events that happened here during the World War II.
The plaza has a bronze marker that contains the name of eleven prisoners of war (POW) who managed to survive the horrible massacre that happened in this place. The bronze marker is placed above the area where main underground bunkers existed. These bunkers became the cage for the unfortunate prisoners. The words engraved on the bronze marker are:
"In this place which was a military fort of World War II, the burning of more or less 150 American POW was done by Japanese soldiers on December 14, 1944. Some managed to survive by swimming their way out from the sea to Iwahig. The remains of those who died were brought and buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Missouri, United States, 1952."
This tragic event happened when the World War II was about to end. The Plaza Cuartel was a garrison of Spaniards, overtook by Americans and then by Japanese. When the Japanese soldiers realized that they were losing the war, put all its prisoners in the dungeon, poured out drums of petroleum over them and lit them up alive. The eleven survivors who escaped narrated the story. Strolling and enjoying the scenery of the plaza is free of cost. After the world war, the Americans took control of the place once again until it was passed on to the Constabulary. Later on, it was given to the National Police. In 1997, it was renovated and became a leisure park.

Island hopping in Honda bay, A 45-minute drive from the city proper, Honda Bay is home to various virgin islands like Pandan Island, Starfish Island, Cowrie Island, and Luli Island. You can choose to rent your own boat for around โ‚ฑ1,500 ($33) or share it with fellow tourists.

You can bring your own swimming gadgets or rent from stores along the way or at the port. Your tour guide will remind you about it anyway. So get ready to get tanned under the sun โ˜€๏ธ. This is swimming ๐ŸŠ time!
The name Luli is short for โ€œlulubog-lilitawโ€ โ€” meaning, โ€œsink-riseโ€ โ€” because the island is known to disappear at high tide, and reappear at low tide.
Second island ๐ŸŒด, the starfish island.. .The island is named after the various types of starfish seen all over the shoreline. Bring your snorkeling gear (which you can rent at the port) and feed fishes with bits of bread. Starfish Island is known to be less crowded than Pandan Island, so if youโ€™re looking for a more quiet escape, this island would be paradise.
Third island ๐ŸŒด, the Courie island..Nipa cottages are scattered all over Cowrie Island where tourists can have a relaxing time with a body massage as they overlook the beach..

Go to Iwahig River and watch some fireflies by nightfall. You can also include here a wonderful diner at the floating restaurant before or after firefly watching.

Fireflies are abundant in the mangrove trees along Iwahig River. The tour will take you to a 30 to 45-minute paddle boat ride through the river to get an up-close view of the sparkling fireflies.

Side trip adventure would be great too, hike and try adventure @ Ugong rock adventure park.

And the finale at Puerto Princesa, of course, visit the world-famous Underground River. Whatโ€™s a trip to Puerto Princesa without a visit to the Underground River? Recently named one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park offers a 45-minute canoe tour of the Underground River. The tour gives visitors a peek into the first 1.5 kilometers of the cave. Endemic wildlife species can also be seen around the area.

At the port, this is where you take a pump boat going to the opening of the underground river. It takes about 20 minutes to get there so enjoy the great scenic view from the ocean ๐ŸŒŠ.
Before leaving, don't forget to dine at their buffet at the nipa hut special with her, lol ๐Ÿ˜‚
Beware, snatcher hahaha ๐Ÿคฃ
