Mecca

Islam

December 30, 2015

This city is amazing. It is absolutely full of history and culture, as it has been around for quite some time, and in the past few decades, under saudi rule, has become a very modern city as well. The entire city is built around the Kaaba, a stone cubicle structure covered in a drape, which is the most holy place in Islam. The central Masjid al-Haram surrounds the Kaaba, and is surrounded by the whole city. Unfortunately, the growth of the city has come at the cost of some of the historical, and in some cases religiously significant buildings.
