The Redesign of a Character Ed. Classroom The story of the classroom formerly known as B205

"The true purpose of Education is to make minds, not careers" - William Deresiewicz, literary critic

Provocation: How might we be the home, heart, and home base for students at ASFM?

Discovery: Understanding our current reality and exploring a better possible future.

Q: What's the first word that comes to mind when you enter this space?
A: Tired, Uninspired, "More of the same"
Discovery as empathy building: How might we gain insights into the desired user experience?

What do we want learning to feel, look and sound like?

Interpretation: What drivers and constraints emerge to inform a better plausible learning experience?
Choice, Connection, Agility, Ambience, Student Ownership, and Social emerge as drivers to inform prototypes.

Ideation:

How might we bring the drivers to life as spacial concepts?

Pre-installation

Prototype 1: Bring our layouts to life and evaluate against the drivers.

How might we test our layouts to inform our final installation?

Modification: The final layout for installation

Before:

To what extent did we see Choice, Ambience, Agility, Student Ownership, Social and Connection present as spacial concepts in B205?

What's the first word that comes to mind when you enter the new Character Ed. experience?

WOW!!!, Open, Color, Vibrant,
To what extent do we see Choice, Ambience, Agility, Student Ownership, Social and Connection present as spacial concepts in the redesigned B205?
This project was a collaborative effort of teachers, students, and admin alike who are working to redefine what learning like at ASFM.
