IN HER OWN WORDS

Share your reasons & motivations for pursuing surrogacy:

I want to be a surrogate to be able to help other people who have had trouble having a baby, fulfill that dream of becoming parents. I love my children so much and can't imagine my life without them. I want other people to experience parenthood who wouldn't be able to otherwise.

What would you like prospective Intended Parents to know about you?

I would like for my prospective intended parents to know that I am very excited about being a surrogate and cannot wait to meet them and start this life changing journey together.

We believe that everyone deserves a family, tell us about yours:

I am married and we have two girls, Malaya, who is almost 7, and Madeline who is one. Malaya has started playing soccer this year and she loves it, she is in first grade and loves going to school and learning. Madeline started solid foods now and loves to bounce!

Who will be your greatest source of support through this journey?

Friends and family are extremely supportive of my decision

How will the financial compensation for being a surrogate help you and your family?

It will help us to be able to pay off our debt and to put a down payment on a home for our family.

Please share your expectations of the surrogacy process:

I think that it will initially involve a process of meeting with different parents before being chosen to be a surrogate. Then it will involve a number of doctor appointments and finally having embryo's implanted. After that it will be a bit of a wait until we find out if they took, if they did implant then I will be pregnant and enjoy being pregnant for 9 months. If the parents want to come visit and speak with the baby while I'm pregnant that is great and if not that is understandable too. After a healthy and happy pregnancy I will give birth to their baby and then they will be able to take him/her home.

Ashlin is in good health. She reports her diet as "excellent" with no dietary restrictions. She does not take any medications.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS

The legal procedures involved in third party collaborative reproduction vary from state to state and country to country. ConceiveAbilities' legal team will explain to you exactly when and what documents will be filed to ensure that you establish your parental rights to your child. ConceiveAbilities is dedicated to educating you about the legal process, including the specific state laws that will impact your journey. From a legal perspective, your personal strategy will account for multiple considerations, all of which aim to minimize your risk and to protect you in an ever-changing legal landscape. Remember, the state where your surrogate resides and gives birth governs your parentage procedures.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE STATE WHERE THE SURROGATE RESIDES:

NEVADA: LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS

SHE'S HERE TO ANSWER YOUR LEGAL QUESTIONS
"The legal landscape is constantly changing and I work with my clients to provide them with the best possible legal outcomes. I can help you navigate through the laws surrounding family building so that you can have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your family has legal security."

After your surrogate match is secured, Meg and your dedicated Match Manager will provide guidance on the legal steps ahead. This includes the drafting and negotiation of the Direct Agreement and subsequent parentage documents specific to your surrogate's state.

INSURANCE

An independent review of Ashlin's current plan with United resulted in a professional opinion that she will be able to use her policy for expenses related to surrogacy. However, this should not be seen as a guarantee of coverage.

Once you are closer to an embryo transfer, a consult with Art Risk will provide you with an updated analysis and opinion of coverage options, and also discuss possibilities which may arise that can impact the level of benefits obtained. Insurance plans can and often do change midway through pregnancy. When considering whether to procure a secondary policy for your GC it is important to keep these possibilities in mind. Please keep in mind that the below letter is not a guarantee of coverage. The analysis is intended only as a tool to be considered as you develop your plan for securing health insurance for your surrogate's journey.

"The truth is that maternity coverage for surrogacy is often a luxury. So I do everything possible to educate and prepare my clients in the matching matters process" —Alicia Denefe, ConceiveAbilities
