CULTURAL IDENTITY BY ABDUL-BASIT BABALOLA

Cultural identity is the identity or feeling of belonging to a group. It is part of a person's self-conception and self-perception and is related to nationality, ethnicity, religion, social class, generation, locality or any kind of social group that has its own distinct culture

The ethnicity I most identify with is the yoruba ethnic group

The yoruba's are ancient people from West Africa

you would find them in a country called Nigeria to be precise

And I am from a state called Lagos where the heart of a country lies

Now the language I speak is yoruba. the name of the culture and the name of the language doesn't change.

what do you think our physical traits are ? of course our Language, the way we speak also some yoruba's give themselves tribal mark they feel its a sense of beauty.

Now what do we eat ? we all kinds of food we vegetables, pepper, cassava yam, corn etc.

What kind of art do we do in our culture ? We do all kinds of art work e.g. painting, mosaic, wood calving etc.
