Good Life Tour of the Harn by shelby neal

Technique of the Artist

This stonework, entitled Vessel was crafted by Machiko Ogawa. When I was walking through the Asian Art section of the Harn museum, it was filled with many different types of statues and sculptures, however this one in particular stood out to me. As I was walking by, the aqua blue color at first stood out to me and then as I stopped to look at it closer I was interested by the rough outside yet sharp inside. It was something I never would have seen in a textbook or picture. The outside of the rock seemed a little boring from the outside, but the inside slowly morphed to a cool and smooth blue. To me, it represents the beauty inside of each and every person.

Design of the Museum

On the edge of the Asian Art section, we came across a beautiful garden, an oasis in the middle of a random city. I was so excited by the little bit of nature in our museum visit since I love the outdoors. It was also so interesting that the flora of the exhibit was native to Asia, and I loved getting to see such a different type of foliage than I'm used to.
