Monkton Park Newsletter 16th November 2018

We were delighted to see so many attend Parents' Evening earlier this week. If you were unable to book an appointment please speak to your child's class teacher to arrange an alternative date.

It's been great to see so many children sent to my office this week for excellent learning. Children have been awarded our new shiny Headteacher Awards for a range of reasons and some of the work children produced for the Chippenham project homework really was amazing.

Next week our Y4 children are heading off to Braeside for 3 days (Weds-Fri). They will be accompanied by Mr Rafferty, Mrs Wild and Mrs Evans. We hope they have a great time!

School Nurse Drop in

The school nurse will be available for a drop in session on Wednesday 28th November from 8.45am. If you have any questions that you would like to ask or are looking for advice then you are more than welcome to come along. Appointments will be 1:1 although there is no need to book ahead.

Flu Vaccination

Children in years R to 5 will be having a nasal flu vaccination in school on Tuesday 4th December.

In order to provide electronic consent for your child’s Flu vaccination, please access the consent portal via the following link completing one consent form for each child.

Please can you complete the online form as soon as possible as the link closes 5 working days prior to the session in school on 4th December.

This link is secure and unique to the school. Full details and information to assist you in completing the consent is available on the website including full FAQ’s, patient information and contact details, should you wish to speak to a nurse regarding the nasal vaccination.

Braeside

Year 4 are due to visit Braeside on their 1st residential trip next week. The weather is due to get much colder, so can we remind the children to pack plenty of warm layers and make sure they bring gloves and a hat.

Year 3

On Wednesday morning, all year 3s will be visiting Baydon’s Wood, a short walk from school (near the blue bridge). Please ensure children have a warm coat and appropriate footwear , either wellies or outdoor shoes.

If any parents are willing to accompany us on this short visit (from 9.15 – 10.45) please let either the office or Mr Slee know

Lost Property

We have lots and lots of nameless lost property in the school office. If you have lost any items of clothing, please come and have a look.

Please can we remind everyone to put names in all pieces of school uniform, PE kits and coats to ensure that we can return them if lost.

Level 2 Football Stanley Park

A record number of 36 children from years 5 and 6 represented the school in the annual level 2 football tournament at Stanley Park on Wednesday. On an unexpectedly warm afternoon, there was plenty of high quality football, all played in a positive spirit by the 4 Monkton Park teams.

We were delighted to be able to field a girls team for the first time, and they battled hard to reach the final of their competition, where they were eventually defeated by Redland. Elsewhere, our mixed year 5/6 team missed out on a place in the final by just one goal, while our two other teams showed great battling qualities before being eliminated.

Thanks to the Sheldon 6th formers for helping with the coaching of our teams, and to Mrs Porter for organising the event.

Thank you to everyone who has already returned the washed football kit. Please can any outstanding kit be returned on Monday.

Clubs

Mr Rafferty is away at Braeside next Friday, therefore there will be no running club on Friday 23rd November.

Baubles

Miss Wilson is helping to run Christmas crafts at the Christmas fair, she need plain baubles. If you have any that you could donate, please bring them to Rabbits' classroom.
