Catching Creativity Where Creativity, Pedagogy & Technology Intersect

Catching Creativity is a newsletter developed by Shakopee Digital Learning Coaches to share ideas and inspire all of us to embrace the 6C's and reshape learning experiences.

Kindergarten

Students in Kindergarten classrooms at Jackson Elementary worked through the writing process of drafting, editing, and finalizing their writing. They created multiple drafts on the writing process and pulled their work together in a class book using Book Creator.

Second Grade

Second grade teachers at Sweeney took their previously created DoInk green screen movies and imported them into iMovie. They used the background transitions feature to demonstrate transitioning from one continent to the other in their projects.

Junior High

8th Grade Social Studies students at West Junior High created a public service announcement to raise awareness about social and environmental issues in Africa. They researched their topic in groups and then created videos which they presented to class. Students used green screens, music, images, and voice overs to create their informative public service announcements.

Professional Learning Courses in Canvas

Teaching with iPads & MacBooks DLCs have created three fantastic courses to support teaching with devices. The courses are self-paced and you can earn CEUs. Plus, they are chock full of helpful reminders and pro tips! These digital learning courses should be your go-to when you're looking for ideas or reminders! We continue to update digital learning courses throughout the year. Contact a DLC with any questions about Canvas PD courses.

CEU Requirements DLCs have collaborated with content experts to create engaging self-paced courses in Canvas that meet relicensure requirements including EL and Behavior. We are working on courses that meet mental health, and suicide prevention, and secondary literacy CEU requirements. For more information about relicensure check out the CEU Committee FAQ.
