I am a University of Kansas senior studying strategic communication and visual art with a minor in business. Outside of class, I co-founded and worked for Peg Branding. We founded Peg with the mission of co-creating brand value with users for the digital medium. Peg eliminates discrepancies between brands and users. Peg also creates cohesion between a brand’s physical and digital presence. This means a user-centric design philosophy that values honesty, innovation and iteration. We started as a group of three women looking to make a difference. We continue to be that group of women, just in different parts of the country – still looking to make a difference in every new interaction we have.
My experience with startups comes from work with Peg clients and in-class clients. This work continues to teach me the true meaning of ‘entrepreneurial spirit.’ Working with small businesses allows me to take full advantage of my creativity and forces me to think innovatively to create and implement marketing plans and campaigns.
During my college career, I acted as president and marketing coordinator of a philanthropic fraternity, Epsilon Sigma Alpha. I also worked for Boys and Girls Club as a group leader and later for the Lawrence Community Shelter as a marketing intern. These experiences are very different but all gave me a sense of fulfillment. I consider working for ‘good-doing’ companies my passion and career goal.
