2016 Women's Cross Country Preview

The Bears return five of their seven runners competing at the New England Regional Championships including top finisher Gretchen Krause (19:47 5K NEWMACs / 23:05 6K Regionals).

"We are fortunate to return so many runners from last season’s roster," said head coach Ethan Brown. "Our returners gained some valuable experience from last year’s cross country and track & field seasons. The roster is a little smaller, but that is no indicator of our potential. There are so many runners on our team that could really make a significant impact to our team’s performance and make a run for a big performance at NEWMAC Championships."

Krause was a consistent runner for CGA through the championships season of cross country finishing tin the top spot for both NEWMAC's and Regionals. She later went on to run 2:22 in the 800 meters during the outdoor track & field season.

Bonny Turnage and Rachel Burchill will prove to be formidable runners on the team and in the conference. Turnage began her breakout year runner to the #2 spot at regionals (23:46 6K) then to go on in the track season to run 4:53 in the 1500 meters as well as 18:16 in the 5000 meter during the outdoor track & field season.

Burchill kept turning up the intensity all year. She posted the CGA’s #2 indoor track & field season 5000 meters at 19:53, but then went on to top that at 19:17 outdoors and then ran a 39:55 in the 10,000 meters.

One senior, Jenn Haley (5:03 1500 / 19:56 5K), and three sophomores, Anita Green (19:38 5K, 23:44 6K), Nina Ragle (19:28 5k/23:48 6K), and Morgan Garrett (injured during cross country, outdoor 800m best was 2:25) will also play a big role in keeping a tight scoring group.
Coast Guard welcomes six newcomers, among which Kirstin Carson, Olivia Suski, and Olivia Konecni will look to compete for a scoring spot.
