Song #1: Cherry // Moose Blood

Lyrics:

"There's only one place that I wanna be, it's home with you girl so I can hear you breathe with your hair up like you do, and that face that you give me when you're missed me and I missed our girl so god damn much, I smoked a lot and I feel so rough, I guess this is just what I wanna do, keeping half smokes smokes and sing to half filled rooms, I was young and irresponsible about a year ago and it's impossible to tell if my hands will ever warm up, I don't believe in growing up, but look at me now I'm engaged to be married, I'm only 23 and I've got myself a family, she's not mine and she never will be I'm reminded everyday, she's not mine and it kills me, she won't look at me that way, I was young and irresponsible about year ago and it's impossible to tell if my hands will ever warm up, I don't believe in growing up"

Lyric Meaning:

The artist is talking to a girl he's either in or wants to be in a relationship with, because he says, "there's only one place that I wanna be, it's home with you girl". I think he's talking about how it feels to be away from her when he's on tour and how hard that is for him. The artist feels sad and nostalgic of how his life used to be when he was younger, because he says, "I don't believe in growing up," numerous times in the song.

The beat and melody of this song is slow and repetitive, so it gives the song a sad and serious feeling. The vocals are heavier and you can tell right off the bat that this is supposed to be a sad song and make you feel something. Depending on my mood, this song is either perfect to listen to or makes me completely sad. I normally like to listen to this song when I'm in a quiet mood by myself. If I'm happy and listen to this song it will negatively affect my feelings, but if I'm already sad then it can make me feel better. This song reminds me of my friend Kenz Hart, because on the outwest trip we'd sit and listen to this song in the morning or late at night on long bus rides. https://youtu.be/yGqRIdWfdE8

Song #2: Black Butterflies & Deja Vu // The Maine

Lyrics:

"What would you say if you could say everything you needed to, to the one you need to? You flash like a setting sun, you come around I come undone, can't find a sound under my tongue when I look at you. I lose my voice when I look at you, can't make a noise I'm trying to, tell you all the right words, waiting on the right words. Just another love sick afternoon, black butterflies and deja vu, hoping for the right words, waiting for the right words. Just yesterday, north of LA, couldn't help but think of you, every time I think of you, you crash like a rolling wave, you come around I lose my brain, can't find a sound under my tongue when I look at you. I lose my voice when I look at you, can't make a noise I'm trying to, tell you all the right words, waiting on the right words. Just another love sick afternoon, black butterflies and deja vu, hoping for the right words, waiting for the right words. I've been searching for the right words, right words, but I, I can't even find an echo, don't you let go. There are only 26 letters I can use, just to tell you I won't let go, don't you let go. I lose my voice when I look at you, can't make a noise I'm trying to, tell you all the right words, waiting on the right words. Just another love sick afternoon, black butterflies and deja vu, hoping for the right words, waiting for the right words."

Lyric Meaning:

The lyrics in this song describe the artist singing about how he just keeps thinking over and over again about one girl, but can't ever find the right way to tell her what she wants to when he says, "just another love sick afternoon, black butterflies and deja vu, hoping for the right words, waiting for the right words."

This beat and melody of this song is very upbeat on the verses and then slows and quiets down at the chorus and bridge, which adds depth to the song and pertains to your emotions more closely. It emphasizes the meaning on the chorus, but is still a very positive and happy song. I always feel instantly happy when I listen to this song. It always reminds me of this one person that I don't want to name at the moment and the time we spent together on the out west trip over the summer. https://youtu.be/wHm2bQRJIaw

Summary Of My Music

I've always had an incredibly strong connection to music, I play guitar, and write songs, so I spend a lot of time listening to music. I love all different types of music and the messages they hold. My music taste has been influenced by friends, family, and strangers, but I've akways had my own unique taste in music as well. Certain songs make you feel better, because for some reason you connect with them, the message, and the mood in the song, which I think is an amazing thing.

Situations:
  1. When I'm missing someone: Wake Up // EDEN, because some of the lyrics say, "you'll feel better when you wake up" and it's a slow and quiet song that will give you time to reflect on the past event. https://youtu.be/cCp0OSOe4cI
  2. When at a bonfire with friends: Go Flex // Post Malone, because the acoustic guitar sets a chill mood, but it's still an upbeat and sing along song. https://youtu.be/tQjsAJhsSw8
  3. When struggling with self esteem and confidence: Am I Pretty? // The Maine, because the song is all about how superficial looks are and how unimportant it is to only focus on that. It ends with the message that everything that's different about you makes you special and beautiful. https://youtu.be/5wHQN4HXAto
  4. When spending time with my immediate family: Born To Run // Bruce Springsteen, because he's a family favorite and we've all listened to this song for as long as I can remember. https://youtu.be/IxuThNgl3YA
  5. When I need to cheer up: A Part Of Me // Neck Deep, because I can't ever help but smile when I listen to this song, and it always reminds me of my great friend, Tanner. https://youtu.be/VOyYwzkQB98
